Hi, I'm Desirae
I like coffee (with collagen + grass fed butter), neutrals, hand lettering, my overbearing goldendoodle, laughing with my husband, and being a mom to the sweetest little Gem. No really, her name is Gemma.
Wife and momma are my favorite roles by far. And, like they say, when I became a mom, everything changed.
As a new mom, I found myself pretty overwhelmed.
I don't know if I would have called it like it was at the time, but I was anxious. Clinically diagnosed with postpartum anxiety, even. Gradually, it got a bit better, but what really changed things was a journey my husband and I took to simplify our home and life.
Minimalism. We watched a documentary on it and it felt enticing. We didn't really know how much it would affect our lives, but we decluttered everything, and now we live simpler, with less stuff. And living that way has only made room for more joy- more intentional living.
I've always been anxious, but I've realized that living in a less cluttered space and simplifying not only my possessions, but every area of life has truly helped diminish this problem I've always just assumed would forever consume me.
Through simplifying, I've become a more joyful mom.
Not only have I become less anxious, but I've become a better mom, too. And wife. Or at least a happier one. Because I have time for the important things, now. I'm not bogged down by messes and clutter. I'm living a little lighter and way less overwhelmed. A whole lot more joyful- and living with much less...but everything I need.
Minimalism changed everything for me- and I want to help you get from overwhelmed to joyful, too.
This is the space where I talk about minimalism and mom life. It's where I share my simple living journey with hopes it might help you, too. It's where we can share in our struggles and our joys.
Simple. Joyful. Well. is all about wellness, as a mom, as a whole. It's about simplifying every area of life to become a more joyful, less overwhelmed, and overall well mama.
I hope you'll stick around a while!
PS. I'm also the artist at Little Gem Printshop- Check out my simple, hand lettered prints!
Motherhood should be joyful.
Yes, it is hard. Yes, it breaks you and molds you in ways nothing else can. But it’s beautiful- so why do we so often have a hard time finding beauty in the midst of it. I am just a rookie, really, with only one little babe. But I can say that I know one thing that strangles to joy from motherhood- clutter. Not only a home, but a life gets cluttered more and more with each kid and each activity signed up for and each art project brought home. I don’t know what it is like to have more than one baby, but I do know we are putting things into practice now that will follow us through parenthood.
Simplifying life- not saying yes to everything- and not letting the stuff take over your home, these things can help make motherhood the joyful experience it is meant to be.
I don’t think our kids need the clutter or the excess either- in their possessions or in their schedule. What if we just kept it simple?
That’s what I write about here- simple, joyful motherhood. Living with less stuff and more joy. And keeping the clutter out.
